One of the oldest American comic book distributors globally, Diamond Comic Distributors, is currently affected by a ransomware attack. Their official website has been down for 5 days now. A statement released by the company on a temporary website says they are collaborating with third-party experts to restore entire operations.
"As many of you may know, we are currently experiencing system issues affecting our order processes and communications. Our IT department and a team of third-party experts are working around the clock to address these issues and restore full operations."
In addition to forensic experts, Diamond Comics notified law enforcement promptly when it learned of the attack.
"We’ve determined that the system issues we’re experiencing are the result of a ransomware attack. These attacks have, unfortunately, become increasingly pervasive in recent months, impacting organizations around the world."
The comic book distributor has a strong reason to believe that no customer will be affected by the attack since credentials and financial data are not stored on their network. Diamond Comics uses a third-party email provider, AWeber, for regular updates with customers while they are still working to bring systems back online.
While their main website remains down, its retailer service website is functioning. Regarding shipment, orders will be delayed for a few days for international customers and are expected to resume within 72 hours.
